Why study Biomedical Engineering (BME) ?

The recent technological advancements have resulted in improved efficiency and efficacy of medical procedure and have largely affected the medical practice. Consequently the field of BME is undergoing a rapid evolution. This in turns imposes new challenges for advanced education in this field.

Why study BME in Patras, Greece?

Patras, the host city of the University, is the capital of Achaia and the biggest city of the Peloponnese. It is located on the eastern side of the Patraikos bay, 213 km from Athens. Patras is an important commercial and industrial center and the country's gate to the West, its harbor connecting the whole country with the ports of Western Europe. Its advantageous position, being within easy reach of famous sights, such as Olympia, Delphi, Epidaurus and others, has made it a great tourist attraction.

Since 1989, the Dept of Medical Physics of University of Patras, Greece, has been coordinating a Postgraduate Programme in BME in collaboration with more than 20 European Universities. This BME Programme draws expertise from a large multinational academic community and addresses a respective multinational audience.
